should I put my cooked food in the fridge to cool before I put it in the freezer? But wont that slow the freezing process down?

“Safety in Numbers” –  very good advice, something to live by.

Absolutely! We do advise you to put your cooked food to cool first before freezing despite slowing down  the process. Although freezing quickly is best, putting cooked food  into your freezer warms the surrounding area in the freezer therefore partly de-frosting other foods – not something you really want. Check out our section on how to freeze, store and defrost frozen foods.
