Find time for healthy eating – Frozen makes it easy!

We've all heard the news about the importance of healthy eating - apressure that is weighing on the shoulders of any modern parent. Withbusy schedules and seemingly fewer and fewer hours in the day, our bestintentions are sometimes not met.

Incorporating frozen foods into you and your family's meals is notonly time-saving and economically sensible, but will also provide youwith a high quality, nutritious and convenient solution to many of yourdietary worries.

As freezing stops the clock on food deterioration, frozen items aregenerally on par and sometimes higher in vitamins and minerals thantheir equivalents sold fresh. For instance, spinach, if left unfrozen, has generally already lost 75% of its vitamin C by the time it reachesyour plate. If frozen, nutrient loss in spinach is reduced to less than20%. Also, freezing is a natural process which means the food looks'fresh' for longer - making it more appealing and appetising to yoursometimes fussy diners.

Of course the ideal is to have locally grown fruits and vegetableswhich are picked and eaten straight away, but it's rare that we arelucky enough to live this way. Having frozen vegetables to hand meansthat the victory of finally getting your family to eat something greencan be sweetened with the knowledge that they are receiving vitalvitamins and nutrients, without any extra garbage.

Throughout the course of the next year I will write about healthy eating and how frozen foods can be used to ensure you and your family are getting the most from their meals.

We'll be tackling family weight management through using frozenfoods to manage portion sizes, and featuring tips on how to make fruitand vegetables attractive to kids using frozen variants. I'll also beavailable to answer any your questions on food nutrition.
