If you are a busy mum without much time to cook (kids running amok, screaming for food, home work to be done…) what do you do? Rely on frozen foods!

Delicious but also fun. These are the two things to aim for when organising kids party food! With frozen you not only get delicious food, but it is quicker and there are cost savings too. So, if you are throwing a party but you don’t know what to cook, we have some ideas for you…

Kids can work up quite an appetite!

After all the running around they’re bound to be doing kids will start to get hungry. So, why not whet their appetites with some nibbles like sausage rolls and bagel bites or even mini pizzas and hot dogs. When it comes to the main course kids want lots of choice, nibbles and finger food! Pizzas, are excellent from frozen and there are so many different varieties of frozen pizzas in the supermarkets. They are quick to prepare, hassle free and, whatever is not eaten can simply be put back in the freezer.

you can also have things like chicken nuggets from frozen, mashed potatoes, or fish fingers and low fat chips. These are the kinds of foods that kids love, and you don’t have to worry as it can be healthy too. Did you know that frozen chips have less fat than deep fried chips? Did you know that vegetables from frozen can hold more nutrients and vitamins than fresh? And, did you know that fish frozen at sea are frozen within four hours of catch?

Frozen desserts

Choice is endless!

For desserts there are a lot of options that you can get, for example there are sponge cakes, ice creams, frozen cakes, frozen jelly, frosty pops which are jus like ice cream but made out of juice. Visit your local supermarket’s frozen food aisle and see for yourself!

You can also add pieces of frozen fruit to different varieties of ice creams so you can change the way you serve them and to encourage your kids to eat their 5 a Day. Kids think fruit tastes great when surrounded in ice cream!  You can put frozen fruit on the side or wrap them in pancakes.
