I am watching a programme about mechanically recovered meat (MRM). They are saying it cannot be called meat. So if that is the case, how nutritious are frozen chicken Kiev's, and frozen sausages? The Foods Standard Agency do not want to make any comment
Hello Claire, I fully understand your concern. Upon looking at the food standards agency website, we found a page entitled Mechanically ‘Recovered Meat - Your Questions Answered’, which looks into a study that was done surrounding Mechanically Recovered Meat. The Food Standards Agency are the experts on food safety and standards, including meat production and manufacturing. Please have a read of the information for yourself via the link below.
We can only comment on the process of freezing foods in general and not the original content and nutritional values of specific products. I hope you find the information you need at http://www.food.gov.uk/multimedia/faq/93439/.
We send independent Food Operatives out to fish markets, frozen food factories, farmers fiels and fishermens boats. Thank you for your frozen food question. Click here to see where your frozen food comes from.
