Frozen yogurt is the new ice cream

Frozen yogurt, or FroYo, is virtually fat free!

Every day, more and more people are making the healthy choice of switching to coolicious frozen yogurt!

People love the smooth creamy taste, the variety of flavours, and unlike ice cream, it's virtually fat free! Frozen yogurts have the following benefits:

How Healthy is frozen yogurt? 

Frozen yogurt, or ‘Froyo’ or ‘Frogurt’ as it is sometimes called, is pretty similar to everyday ice cream, however it is made from yogurt instead of cream.

It is normally better for you than ice cream and so lots of people buy it instead. Frozen yogurt contains more minerals and nutrients than ice cream does. You can buy frozen yogurt as a healthy family dessert because it contains very little fat.

To make yogurt live bacterial cultures are added to milk. The bacteria put in the milk causes fermentation and the process releases lactic acid. The acid thickens the milk proteins and thickens the milk and prevents harmful bacteria. Yogurt is usually only considered true yogurt if live bacteria remain at the end of the creation process. When we eat yogurt, these live bacteria enter the body and assist other good bacteria.

Yogurt, and also frozen yogurt, contains enzymes that break down dairy products, allowing many people with lactose intolerance to eat frozen yogurt with little or no ill effects. Many yogurts also have high levels of protein and important minerals.

Frozen yogurt can be viewed as being somewhere between non frozen yogurt and ice cream when it comes to health. While ice cream can be higher in fat, frozen yogurt can have higher calories than standard yogurt. But, if its super healthy desserts you’re after, look out for fat-free froyo!

Frozen yogurt is made in a similar way as ice cream but Yogurt is used instead of cream. But, it is very different in one way, when out and about in the summer sun frozen yogurt will stay frozen for a lot longer because it has a higher freezing temperature than ice cream – perfect for family picnics and BBQs!
