Can I still cook frozen chips if they have thawed?

Hi, thanks for thinking of us to solve your frozen food conundrum!

It depends on how long your frozen chips have been thawed for – they will be subject to going moldy just as fresh cut potatoes would be. However, your defrosted frozen chips will be alright to eat, just reduce the cooking time for the oven by about five minutes and keep an eye on them.

Cooking from frozen means that the chips quickly form a crust, thereby minimizing water loss and fat absorption. The great thing about frozen chips is that you can cook them straight from frozen which is convenient and effortless! See here for more reasons why you should buy frozen chips.

Add some frozen fish and frozen peas to your chips and you’ve got yourself a healthier and inexpensive alternative to the great British take-away! Here’s our frozen fish and chips recipe. See what our nutritionist Yvonne has to say about healthy eating – eating frozen.
