Can food age if its frozen as in bread and meat. Like if you bought it 25th December 2009 how long can you keep it frozen till you want to eat it or some many days after you buy it? Michelle

Today frozen foods are ‘quick frozen’, which slows down the natural degradation process practically to zero. Freezing is safer than any other form of food preservation, as it is impossible for bacteria to multiply in frozen food and therefore needs no additives.  Recommended storing times varies depending on what product it is. For example, commercially frozen meat products can normally be kept from 2 to 12 months. A list of maximum storage times can be found on our storing, defrosting and cooking frozen foods safely page.
