Is it possible to freeze fruit like pears?
Hi, and thanks for you question about frozen food. Most fruits are perfect for freezing as this will allow you to eat freshly frozen fruits out of season. Click here to see our frozen fruit smoothie which you could have on Christmas Day if you wished!
However, pears are best cooked before they are frozen because freezing them can affect the texture otherwise. Why not try stewing them in a sweet sugar syrup with white wine. Red wine makes the pears go pink which is very pretty. Stab the pears and add a clove or two. Cut the bottoms off the pears and they will stand UP on the plate (and keep the stalks on them – they look great!). Serve with cream and voila!
Thanks for you question about frozen food.
