I cooked seafood pasta. we froze the leftover seafood in sauce. I've thawed it out. Can i re-heat the dish, and is it safe to eat?
Hello, as long as the fish you cooked with was fresh then you should be able to freeze it and eat the thawed frozen fish at a later date. Refreezing is a great way of reducing food wastage (UK household can throw away up to 30% of household food shopping every week), there are several pointers to follow if you want to refreeze your cooked fish:
* Freeze fish that is higher in fat (like farmed salmon). Farmed fish has a higher fat content and will keep it texture best
* Ensure that your fish is allowed to cool to room temperature or cooler before sealing This will prevent a build up of steam within your sealed freezer bag
* Seal the fish within the bag and make sure all air is removed
* Mark and date the bag so that you know how long it will last in your freezer
* Place in the freezer immediately Happy freezing!
