I bought frozen prawns on Friday but only put them in the fridge. Is it safe to cook them for tomorrow’s lunch tonight?

Thanks for your excellent question. Prawns (and other seafood) should take 12 hours to defrost in the refrigerator. For safety and quality, we recommend that you can store your prawns for up to 24 hours on top of that. Now that makes 36 hours in total, so as you would be cooking them around this time (Sunday evening) they should be good for Monday’s lunch. But trust your own judgment in the end - if they smell a bit funny, don’t put them in your tummy! We do love prawns at The New Ice Age, and have some excellent recipes ideas for you here. Why not have a look here to find out where your seafood comes from.
