82% of consumers believe that frozen food will help them save money this year
In our poll of UK consumers, most people believed that frozen food would help them through hard financial times ahead.
Indeed, 10% believed that Labour will save them money and the other 8% believed that the Tories would save them money! So, whilst the statistics weren’t skewed, frozen certainly had a head start!
Frozen Food Facts
Our poll found that consumers firmly believed that frozen food would help them to save money. Their hopes that frozen food will save them money are however based in fact as frozen food manufacturers are able to source their produce in bulk at a good price because they know that there will not be any wastage.
With fresh foods there is so much waste through produce going off that they have to build this into their pricing structure. And... then pass on the hike to you!
Fresh Produce can be Expensive
Fresh foods are increasing in price due to a number of recent poor harvests in the world's 'bread-baskets' such as Australia and parts of SE Asia. Another contributing factor to these price hikes is too little rain in some places and too much in others has meant a big drop in supply whilst demand remains the same.
Stable Prices with Frozen Food
The prices for frozen food are more stable and this is good for us, the consumers! We can make savings by choosing frozen food and then make further savings by re-freezing the portions we do not want to eat today and saving them for later. Did you know that it costs an average of only °Ã18 per year to run a deep freeze?!
